your white rose care home, new tredegar, from september 2016 until her death this february. we would like to say how pleased we were with the care she received there. the staff were wonderful; they worked tirelessly, and with endless patience, to help mum settle and regain some mobility after an illness. each resident was treated with dignity and respect and the staff obviously got to know all residents as individuals, chatting about their likes, interests and past lives. there was also a lot of humour and laughter in the home. the press and media so often focus on negative aspects of care homes and treatment of residents, but rarely feature those hardworking, caring people who do all they can to improve the quality of life of the elderly. we were really thankful to see mum so well looked after when we were no longer able to provide the level of care she required, and this was all down to the dedication of the wonderful staff at white rose care home. kathy c (daughter of resident) i just wanted to say that my mum has been in the home since april 2015. it was a hard decision to make but we have not regretted it for a moment the staff and the standard of care is excellent, they always go that extra mile for the residents. i don’t want to name staff because i wouldn’t want to leave anyone out. they are all wonderful. i would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for their loved one. its kept very clean. the entertainment and activities laid on for the residents is of a very good standard and they always seem to enjoy themselves. jane m (daughter of them a big thank you. sarah r (daughter of resident) the recent management has made lots of improvements in the last 6 months or so to the internal appearance of the building, the conduct and professionalism of the staff, the quality of the catering, the activities and the general ambiance of the home, it has a much more homely feel even having a family car. we visit daily at various times and there is always a friendly greeting and update on how dad has been and it’s nice to visibly see the management on a regular basis with a very welcoming open door policy and also getting involved in a general day to day activities. nobody wants their relative living in a nursing home but it is reassuring and comforting for us to know that dad is being well cared for and looked after. maggie d (daughter of resident) my mum lived at the squirrels from july 2013 – november 2015 until her death. she was previously at another care home before my brother and i moved her and we are so glad we did. i cannot recommend the squirrels highly enough. the staff are so caring and efficient and each resident treated kindly. the entertainment programme for the residents provided by leanne is truly amazing. the squirrels is truly a ‘home from home’. my mum was very happy there. each and every member of the staff from manager to cleaner have my heartfelt thanks. if you are looking for the perfect place for a loved one then look no further. emil p (volunteer) i have been a volunteer at the squirrels for over a year and have never actually been involved in the care industry before but truly i am amazed at how great the staff are and what a lovely place it is. i have found it to be a great homely place to get experience of working with the elderly and the attentive, caring staff that look after them. as soon as i walked in it felt like home which i didn’t expect and now when i visit the staff and the residents make me feel so welcome with a warm smile and a cheerful greeting. all staff and i mean all staff are helpful with everything. it is pleasure and an honour to be part of the squirrels. the home is clean and full of life and has given me the opportunity to learn new skills and enjoy working with some great people. i really recommend the squirrels as a care home, i love it there. elizabeth s (daughter of resident) my mother has been a resident for nearly 9 years. it is very much a family atmosphere and the staff are very caring and supportive to both the residents and their families. indeed many of the staff have worked there a long time. they have lots of activities nan has been a resident at mundy house for four years now and i cannot fault the care and attention she is receiving. all the staff are friendly and really dedicated, such lovely people. nan’s room is kept clean, tidy and overlooks a well kept garden. the manager is a wonderful man and makes such an effort to ensure the residents are well looked after. i would definitely recommend this care home. philip h (son of resident) the care, compassion and dedication showed to my mother and father was excellent and although sometimes my mother gave them challenges they were still brilliant in all that they did for her. also with dad they were so patient with him and always helped him when required or if he asked for it. the care home is a good example of how care should be given, managed and run.
